Detroit Pistons rumors: Baynes set to move from San Antonio

While losing Greg Monroe is a big hit for the Detroit Pistons, it seems that they are now trying to ensure that their remaining star big man Andre Drummond stays.

One way they are looking at it is by getting another big man that could help him in the middle.

Despite lacking the star power and presence, the Pistons have signed the San Antonio Spurs' Aron Baynes.

Baynes does not have the numbers to say that he is going to be a breakout star, nor is he at the age of 28 years old, where there may be much of an upside left to discover. However, he spent three years in the league and has steadily given solid minutes as a back-up with the Spurs.

Standing 6'10, Baynes is not afraid to bang underneath with other big men. While his 6.6 points and 4.5 rebounds per game may be unimpressive, it is important to take note that he only plays around 16 minutes each night.

Add his capacity to drain shots from 15 feet, then he can be honed into a reliable option when the primary players break down.

Furthermore, he is one of the few big men who are skilled when it comes to the free throw line. Baynes can hit 85% of his free throws, a percentage better than some guards in the league.

According to rumors, the deal is made to be around a three-year contract with a possible player option at the end of the first two.

As for the price, some claim that around $6 million is his worth per season and despite it being an inflated price for a role player, it is good enough for a team trying to secure an identity and establish toughness.

Along with Baynes, the Pistons are hoping to keep Joel Anthony to add more back-ups for Drummond in the center position.
