The last installment for the film adaptation of Veronica Roth's "Divergent" series, "Divergent: Allegiant," is due to premiere on March of 2016, and while there is no mystery on how the events of the movie would unfold, fans of the series are clamoring to learn more information about whether or not the film would stick to the original albeit tragic ending.

People who have followed the series for years are exerting as much effort as they possibly can to give Tris the happy ending they think she deserves. Some followers have even started a petition urging the author, Roth, to make an alternate ending for the movie instead.

Sadly, Roth recently confirmed that they are going to push through with the original ending where viewers will see the death of the lead character, Tris.

In an interview with MTV, Roth explained that while she has explored other endings, the author deemed that no other ending can give justice to Tris' character. She said, "The other options weren't doing the real justice to her story. The idea of her settling down after saving the world was not good enough, and it didn't feel good."

And in an interview with Shailene Woodley, Tris herself, spoke in support of Roth's decision to keep the original ending.

"I think that it's a beautiful decision that Veronica made. I mean, how often is it that somebody you really admire and who does take selfless risks every day ends up living," explained the 24-year-old.

Despite the disappointment, it is expected that the upcoming film would still do well in the box office. "Divergent: Allegiant - Part 1" is expected to hit U.S. theatres on Mar. 18, 2016.
