At QuakeCon 2014, which took place last weekend in Dallas, Texas, visitors could see first-hand gameplay footage in the Doom 4 reveal, the convention's arguably biggest draw.

While Doom's gameplay footage is not available online, gamers who were not at Betheseda's yearly gathering can simply wait until Doom, widely known as Doom 4, is available in 2015.

Many were amazed seeing Doom in action, which was exclusively shown to convention attendees.

Doom is a reimagining of the great things of the previous games. Its fundamental theme is that a door to Hell opens up as a result of science going wrong, and you as the hero are the only one who can put an end to the invasion.

The game starts outside the Union Aerospace Corporation (UAC) research facility on planet Mars. UAC is the venue for teleportation experiments by a military research group.

The experiments instead ended up unleashing evils, just like in the previous games. When Doom 4 begins, the facilities at the UAC already suffer an invasion from hell.

There is also the familiar Cyberdemon boss, a beast that looks like a minotaur. He has goat legs and cybernetic parts. After encountering the Cyberdemon during the presentation, the screen faded out and the title "Doom" showed up, marking the end of the Doom 4 reveal.

According to Marty Stratton, the game's executive producer who gave the presentation about Doom 4, the game is about first-person shooters, and how they appear and feel. Fighting being its most significant part.

Battling evil is fast, brutal and relentless; and fighting fast combat needs fast movement. Players will be occupied with forward charging, smashing monsters and dodging projectiles.

Doom 4 will be launched on Xbox One, PS4 and PC in 2015, although no specific release date has currently been announced.
