The tournament for the popular Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) game 'Dota 2' now has a prize pool of $15 million.

Dubbed as "The International 2015 " or TI5, the year's biggest "Dota 2" tournament has exceeded last year's, TI4, which held the title of the largest esports prize pool of $11 million, GameSpot reports.

According to the website, TI5's prize pool even exceeds the 2015 Masters Golf tournament prize which was at $10 million.

As explained on PC Gamer, most of the money in the pool comes from the sales of the "Compendium." It is like a virtual book that offers unlockable items for each level the player gains. As mentioned on the gaming website, the base "Compendium" sells at $10 while the level 50 edition can go up to $27. 25 percent of all "Compendium" sales go straight to the prize pot. Valve has also added $1.6 million making the total of the fans' contributions a whopping $13.4 million.

And even at already $15 million, the prize pool will most likely continue to grow as players can still continue purchasing Compendium points and unlock more of the rewards available in "Dota 2" until the TI5 concludes.

This year's The International is surely going to be a tight battle especially since all teams will do whatever it takes to take home the very big prize.

According to the roster, the big teams (the invited ones) who will be participating in the tournament are: Vici Gaming, Evil Geniuses, Team Secret, Invictus Gaming, LGD Gaming, Cloud9, Team Empire, Virtus Pro, Newbee and Fnatic.

And the qualifiers who made it through the qualifying round of The International 2015 are:

compLexity Gaming for the American division, EHOME for the Chinese division, Natus Vincere (commonly known as Na'Vi) for the Europan division and MVP.Hot6ix for the South East Asia division.

The International 2015 will be held in Keyarena Seattle Center on August 3 to 8, 2015.
