'Dying Light' news and updates: Free game demo wraps up on Steam

(Dying Light / Steam)

"Dying Light," the popular zombie parkour survival game was free to try a couple of days ago. Unfortunately, it only lasted for a day.

On Aug. 27, PC Gamer reported that Techland had released a free demo version of the game, so fans have the opportunity to try it before deciding to spend money on it. However, that may be surprising to many gamers especially because the IP has already been launched on Steam and it's been there for over six months now.

According to the report, the previously released free to try game "offers three hours of unique content," as well as other features that paid users get to have when they bought "Dying Light."

"The demo lets players explore most of the Slums area and offers 3 hours of unique content, including one story quest chain and a number of side quests, challenges, and random encounters. It also features all the core gameplay mechanics of 'Dying Light,' such as the day and night cycle, parkour-based Natural Movement system, creative brutality and crafting. Additionally, the demo supports online co-op mode for up to 4 players," Techland said via Rock Paper Shotgun.

Surprisingly enough, for a free demo, the contents Techland included were outstanding. Typically, free demos only last for an hour or so, along with a few minor features.

Sadly, not all gamers were able to try the free demo as it was only made available for a day and some fans, especially the ones who were not aware of the demo missed the opportunity to try out "Dying Light."

However, fans can now look forward to "The Following," the IP's first and upcoming expansion.

Techland still has yet to announce the release date of this upcoming expansion for "Dying Light," but fans can rest assure because, as said on PC Gamer, this content will add several new and interesting features to the game including a new and open environment.
