ELCA's Southwestern Washington Synod Council is reaching out to congregations to gathering information on pastors willing to become its next bishop in 2013.

Pastor Nina Body of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Tacoma told the Council last week that the Synod's nominating committee will send out a blanket email to congregations to requests views on who they would like to see become their next bishop, according to a Synod report on Saturday.

That information will be presented at regional talking post meetings where names of candidates can be presented, the report states.
Possible candidates will be asked to complete a profile that will be used during the election – by the election committee - at the Synod assembly from June 7-8, 2013 at the Hotel Murano Tacoma.

The Synod Council asked the nominating committee last year to develop the process, the report said.
