There are only two episodes left before "Extant" wraps up its second season. But those who were expecting an action-filled episode last Wednesday were disappointed. Despite being an obvious filler episode, "Extant's" episode 11 had some interesting surprises that hopefully set the stage for an epic finale.

The episode, which was titled "Zugzwang," showed Molly (Halle Berry) tracking down her deceased husband's (Goran Visnjic) colleague in a bid to help stop the Humanich threat. Apparently, John's old colleague knows how to stop the Humanichs from eradicating humans and hybrids alike. As expected, JD (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and Ethan (Pierce Gagnon) were also along for the ride.

While they were on the hunt for this mystery colleague, Julie (Grace Gummer) begins to suspect that Lucy (Kiersey Clemons) was receiving orders from someone. In a move that might put him in danger, Julie tells Charlie (Tyler Hilton) to look for the source.

Episode 11 picked up from where 10 left off, with Molly still coping with waking up from her coma and being in her old body again.

The last two episodes of "Extant" promise to be exciting ones as Molly and JD race to stop a plan that would result in the destruction of the human race. Luckily, fans won't have to wait long for it as CBS will be airing episodes 12 ("Double Vision") and 13 ("The Greater Good") back to back.

According to the show's official synopsis, Molly will be revealing new details about Shepherd's death to the GSC while Lucy will make a game-changing move against the humans and hybrids in episode 12.

Episode 13 will see Molly and JD racing to meet the hybrids in order to stop a Humanich plot to destroy mankind. Lucy will discover something about the GSC that will make her question her motives and which might also endanger Ethan.

"Extant" revolves around Molly Woods, an astronaut who returns home to her husband John, a robotics engineer, and her son, Ethan, a "humanich" (prototype android), after a 13-month mission in outer space. But she soon discovers she's pregnant despite years of being infertile and sets off to find answers.

The season finale of "Extant" will air on Wednesday, Sept. 9, on CBS.
