'Eye Candy' season two hangs in the balance; loyal fans are keeping up their Twitter campaign to save the teen show

MTV's teen drama series 'Eye Candy' concluded its first season last month, but there has yet to be any announcements regarding a potential second season. At this point in time, all signs point to the show being cancelled barring a last minute save.

The series has struggled with its viewership ratings for the entirety of its ten episode run. The pilot episode garnered 0.59 million viewers in North America but stayed in that range during the entire season. While the viewership ratings were modest, the show continues to have a passionate and loyal fan following, albeit not at a size that would easily justify a second season renewal.

Reviews for the show are equally mixed. One particular review from the LA Times praised the show's suspenseful moments but criticized some aspects of the show as silly and confusing. Lead actress Victoria Justice received a smattering of positive reviews for her work on the show but as one pointed review from Tim Stack of Entertainment Weekly described, "While Justice is a winning actress, she's miscast here and not helped by a story line that feels like one of those old USA TV movies." Justice had previously appeared in various youth-friendly television shows at the Nickelodeon network.

Despite the gloomy outlook for the show, many fans are still doing what they can to save the show. As can be noted in this tweet, several fans have conducted Twitter campaigns to get 'Eye Candy' trending and thus raise awareness of the show. MTV's official Twitter account for the show continues to highlight all the positive work done by the 'Eye Candy' community, so it appears that the show's development team is keen to continue with future seasons, if they receive the opportunity.

Whatever the case, 'Eye Candy' fans are urged to participate in the various ongoing Twitter campaigns in an effort to help save the show.
