'Fast and Furious 8' release date, cast news: Cara Delevingne set to work with ex Rodriguez, Charlize Theron as female villain

Exciting cast news is afoot for fans of the "Fast and Furious" franchise with the newest installment geared up to start filming with some new cast members joining the action. It is rumored that Cara Delevingne will soon be part of "Fast and Furious 8," and already her ex Michelle Rodriguez is thrilled with the possible new addition.

Big things are bound to happen on FF8 with the casting of a female villain in the person of Charlize Theron, an actress with superb ability in pulling off challenging roles. And how about Bollywood's Deepika Padukone? A few months earlier, she was speculated to become part of the upcoming Vin Diesel sequel when she and Diesel had an exchange of Instagram images pointing to her possible involvement, although it seemed she was slated for XXX and not FF8. Helen Mirren has previously expressed wanting to try out the thrill of the "Fast and Furious" franchise, and though Diesel seemed to agree that she would make an interesting addition, nothing is final as yet.

Eva Mendez of course has been speculated to reprise her role as Customs Agent Monica Fuentes. Other returning cast may include Jordanna Brewster for the role of Mia Toretto, as well as Ronda Rousey.

Brewster said on Bustle, "I don't know [if I'd do another film], but it's always dependent on the fans," adding that "If they want one and if there's an appetite for it. We never want to jump the shark!"

Another welcome character who has been part of the "Fast and Furious" franchise is Lucas Black who is said to be returning to his role as Tokyo expat Sean Boswell from the third installment, "The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift."

Of course, Vin Diesel will be Dominic "Dom" Toretto.

Meantime, although the initial announcement was for filming to happen in New York, it would seem that some of it would also take place in Iceland, especially what is going to be the largest explosion in the country. That is where all the new wheels and machinery are going. And according to Jalopnik's — a website reviewing cars — post on Twitter, "Fast 8 will trash Rally Fighters, Lamborghinis, and Imprezas with those Ripsaws in Iceland."

"Fast and Furious 8" will be out in theaters by April15, 2017.
