Clint Dempsey appears side-by-side with Lionel Messi on the cover of FIFA 15 North America for PlayStation and Xbox.

The United States is still on a high after a relatively impressive performance at the recently concluded World Cup FIFA 2014 in Brazil.

Surely, a familiar face from the US Men's National Team on the cover is a good marketing tactic for EA for its North American release.

Together with Tim Howards' record-breaking saves, Dempsey's heroics have pushed the United States to a strong finish at the World Cup.

He netted the fifth fastest goal of all-time with a strike versus Ghana during round of 16 knockouts.

While the team fell on the hands of the Belgian footballers during the quarterfinals, they fought like brave warriors that made the nation truly proud.

"It's an amazing opportunity in my career to be on the cover for FIFA 15, a game that has played a big role in growing the popularity of the sport in America," said Dempsey. "To join the class of other elite athletes who have appeared on previous covers is very humbling and I am extremely grateful for this honor."

Dempsey, the captain of the U.S. National Team, currently plays for Seattle Sounders FC in Major League Soccer.

He cemented himself as one of the greatest American soccer players in history.

FIFA 15 is set for September 23 release in PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC.
