'Final Fantasy 7 Remake' release date may not be before April 2017

Fans who may have been holding on to hope that the "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" may be released a bit earlier than expected may have to set aside those optimistic predictions for now.

Square Enix recently shared a list of its major titles that are set to be released between now and March 31 of next year, and among the games that were not featured in the list is the eagerly anticipated remake.

Instead, the list contains games such as "Deus Ex: Mankind Divided," "Final Fantasy 15," "Rise of the Tomb Raider" as well as some other notable titles.

Notably, another highly anticipated Square Enix title, "Kingdom Hearts 3," is also missing from the list.

It's worth noting that not appearing on the list does not necessarily mean that the Square Enix game in question will not be released within the next few months.

According to a Square Enix representative spoken to by Videogamer, the list does not contain the complete lineup of games that will be coming out this year, though that does not necessarily mean that either the "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" or "Kingdom Hearts 3" will still be released any time soon.

The Square Enix representative, in clearing things up with Videogamer, gave the example of a different title from the publisher, namely "NieR: Automata," that was already given a release window of 2016 yet was left off the list.

It's also worth noting that Square Enix has yet to provide an official release window for the remake and considering that "Final Fantasy 15" was already set to make its debut this year, it was probably already unlikely that another major title from the same franchise would also be made available within the same calendar year.

The "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" may not be coming out any time soon, though more news about it could still be made available within the next few weeks, especially with the one year anniversary of its grand reveal inching closer.
