Earlier this year, it was confirmed that indie videogame hit "Five Nights at Freddy's" would finally be getting a film adaptation. According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter, the film will be produced by Vertigo Entertainment, together with Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg of KatzSmith Productions.

The news of the movie adaptation has reportedly been tentatively received by the franchise's fans who are worried that the Scott Cawthon creation would be botched by the production. Grahame-Smith, however, was quick to reassure possible audiences that the film will be developed under the guidance of Cawthon.

He said, "We're looking forward to working with Scott to make an insane, terrifying and weirdly adorable movie."

Gil Kenan has since been tapped to direct the upcoming film and, suffice to say, he has done much of his part to tease fans about his upcoming project. Since the announcement of his involvement late in July, the helmer has been more than generous in providing hints as to the "Five Nights at Freddy's" adaptation.

An update Kenan has sent out early in September has gotten fans' tongues wagging. The tweet features a man in a rabbit suit with his eye peaking out holding a little boy on his lap. According to multiple reports, the update might be a clue as to which "Five Nights at Freddy's" characters would be included in the upcoming film, with the picture hinting at Bonnie, a rabbit-like creature in the franchise.

Further rumors speculate that the picture might be foreshadowing on what the upcoming adaptation would be about. According to the in-game legend, the possessed animatronic animals in the featured Freddy Fazbear restaurant was a result of a group of children being slaughtered by a man in an animal suit.

The release date for the "Five Nights at Freddy's" film adaptation has yet to be announced.
