The "Five Nights at Freddy's" movie development is in full swing. And just after the movie has pinned down creator, Scott Cawthon, to join the team of producers, it now names its director.

"City of Ember" and "Monster House director, Gil Kenan, has been signed to direct the live movie adaptation of the cult video game franchise, "Five Nights at Freddy's." In the deal with Warner Bros., Kenan is also set to join the pool of writers for the film. Also writing is Tyler Burton Smith, writer of "Sleeping Dogs" and "Prototype 2."

Producing the film are Vertigo Entertainment's Roy Lee and KatzSmith Productions' David Katenberg and Seh Grahame-Smith. The three have a collective resume of horror films, including Asian-to-Western adaptations of "The Ring" and "The Grudge" plus Katenberg's "The Vampire Hunter." Co-executive producers are Adam Stone and Jay Ireland with Jon Berg and Nik Mavinkure standing in to oversee for Warner Bros.

There are a few concerns about the movie version of "Five Nights at Freddy's." Because the video game is so successful, many talented fans have created their own fan-made films. These are short films that are almost, if not entirely, at par with other Hollywood horror films, which are being circulated these days.

"Five Nights at Freddy's" is set at a scarier version of the known family entertainment restaurant, Chuck E. Cheese. In the games, a pizzeria-slash-arcade place, Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, has animatronics that come to life at night and murders trapped customers and payers. The game runs for five nights in the fictional place with each night becoming more difficult than the previous one.

There are no details yet as to when the movie production will commence or when the target release date will be. In the meantime, fans of the horror survival series can enjoy a new game on Aug. 8, which is actually the original game's anniversary date.

"Five Nights at Freddy's 4" debuts exactly one year after the first game was released for the PC.
