Good news for "Five Nights at Freddy's" fans. The genius behind the game, Scott Cawthon, has been confirmed to be on board for the movie adaptation of the creepily fun game.

Video games being adapted into movies do not usually work. On the rare occasions that a movie was able to successfully capture the essence of a video game, it happened because the writer or director was a big fan, case in point — the first "Silent Hill" movie.

So news that the funky and freaky animatronics of Freddy's Family Diner are headed to Hollywood understandably brought a feeling of dread among fans, especially since the game has already developed a subgenre of good fan-made films that would put any big budget horror movie to shame, thus raising the movie bar quite high.

Luckily, Warner Bros. seem to understand this and has confirmed that Cawthon will be involved in bringing his brainchild to the silver screen. Getting the game's creator onboard is a very wise move on the part of the company as it ensures that the elements that have made the game a hit will be kept intact.

Aside from Cawthon, "The Grudge's" producer, Roy Lee, and Seth Grahame–Smith is also onboard. David Katzenberg, who worked on "The Vampire Hunter," is also set to produce "Five Nights at Freddy's."

While fans are waiting for the movie to come out, a fourth installation of the critically acclaimed game is set to be released on Aug. 8, the anniversary of the first Freddy game.

A trailer for "Five Nights at Freddy's 4" has been released and it remains true to form. But this time around, the killer animatronics have followed the player to his or her supposed sanctuary — home.

The short clip shows that the game play has basically remained the same, but the fact that you are fighting off Freddy and his ilk at your home just heightens the game's scream factor.

"Five Nights at Freddy's 4" drops earlier than usual, but a "free update with extra content" is expected to be released on Oct. 31, a nice treat for Halloween.
