Following news that director, Gil Kenan, is planning on using real animatronics for the movie adaptation of the popular horror point-and-click game, "Five Nights at Freddy's," fans of the franchise are starting to get more excited.

The 39-year-old British-Israeli director, also known for his work on the 2015 movie "Poltergeist," admits to being a huge fan of the "Five Nights at Freddy's" video game franchise. But he says that his movie adaptation will focus on a plot that will explore the bigger universe of the game. This is, he says, to ensure that the movie will attract an audience beyond the games' current fans. The movie wants to target a breed of new young audience.

A week ago, the director posted a photo on Instagram of what looks like a movie set filled with party supplies and huge, colorful cupcakes. Though he didn't directly connect the post to the movie, fans have already assumed that it was for "Five Nights at Freddy's." The smiling cupcakes, after all, are reminiscent of The Cupcake element seen in the game.

The director, however, remains mum on the topic and has not answered queries about the post.

Wikipedia reports that the practical animatronics to be featured in the movie adaptation of the cult indie game will be made by Jim Henson's Creature Shop. The said shop was founded by Jim Henson, more known for his creation of The Muppets.

Vertigo Entertainment's Roy Lee and KatzSmith Productions' David Katzenberg and Seth Grahame-Smith have also been attached to the project as producers. Co-writing the script with the movie's director is Tyler Burton Smith.

No word yet on the release date of "Five Nights at Freddy's." Fans, in the meantime, can get their horror fill via "Five Nights at Freddy's 4," which was released on Steam last July 23, 2015. The game is available for the PC, Android, and iOS and is the fourth iteration in the franchise.
