The Fast and Furious franchise delivered its biggest hit yet with its latest film 'Furious 7'. The latest installment in the series scored over $147 million in its opening weekend in domestic territories, a figure which tops all other films in the franchise. All told, 'Furious 7' has grossed over $800 million worldwide a mere two weeks since its opening. The film has a chance to break the $1 billion barrier sometime in the coming weeks, and official confirmation for a 'Furious 8' should be a mere formality in the coming months.

As the final Furious appearance for the late Paul Walker, 'Furious 7' delivered on its promise to providing a triumphant and fitting end to his character Brian O'Connor. The ending of the film gives Brian and his family a peaceful resolution while serving as a stirring tribute to both the character and the late actor.

The emotionally charged film was also a hit with its even more extravagant action scenes as the Furious team continued to up the ante when it came to its stunt work. Still, the stars of the film appear confident that they can deliver even better action scenes in a potential 'Furious 8'.

As reported in this article at MTV, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson signalled his interest in another film and talked of bigger things to come. "I talked to Vin [Diesel] today — we had a nice discussion — and I think whatever it is, whatever we come up with for 'Furious 8,' we have to raise the bar, in terms of action, yes, but also in terms of story and character," he said.

As for Diesel himself, the actor was happy with 'Furious 7' stating, "The fact that the world embraced it and allowed it to be Paul's legacy, it's just a beautiful thing." The actor added that he is highly motivated to continue with the series saying that Walker himself had previously guaranteed a 'Furious 8'.
