Samsung Galaxy Note 6 release date to be revealed at Samsung's June 2 press event?

Samsung has sent out invites to a press event on June 2, 5 p.m., in New York City, and Samsung Note 6 hopefuls are wishing that the event would shed some light on the anticipated smartphone.

There is not a single clue as to what the event would be showcasing, and, despite the wishful thinking, some reports believe that it seems that the event is more likely going to reveal information about its wearable products like the Gear Fit 2 and IconX wireless earbuds, and stay mum about the frequently discussed Samsung Note 6.

One of the biggest rumors enveloping the anticipated Samsung flagship phone is its branding, with reports saying that the South Korean company might be skipping the name "Note 6" and immediately label the next Note installment as "Note 7" for two probably reasons — to level the name with the Galaxy series, which has already released Galaxy 7; and to level its branding with Apple, which is reportedly in the works to launch iPhone 7 late this year.

Other rumors surrounding Samsung is the speculation that the company is working on two phablets — a flat screen device and another with an edge screen display — that will both feature Quarter High Definition (QHD) screens, Snapdragon chips, and at least 8 GB of RAM.

Another report claims that the next Samsung devices will be geared with the latest in mobile biometric technology, especially after the release of two apps named "Samsung Iris" and "Samsung Eyeprint." The same report claims that these applications might be the Note 6's trademark application, and could help boost the smartphone's sales, if the technology proves to be fast enough to respond to user needs and preference, especially since eye recognition software takes a lot of time for processing, which only drives users to turn off the application.
