Galaxy S6 Edge Plus set for worldwide release; coming with 4 GB RAM

(Samsung)Invitation to the Galaxy Unpacked event

Today, Samsung made official the news that it has a Galaxy Unpacked event coming up on Aug. 13; and the image that came along with the announcement suggests a new curved screen device would be unveiled.

This has led many to believe that the company is indeed bringing out the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, which, along with the Galaxy Note 5, has been seen in a number of leaks on the Internet.

As for the design of the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, it is expected to be a phablet-sized version of the Galaxy S6 Edge smartphone, which launched on March 1 in a similar unpacked event. With the popularity of the dual curved screen smartphone, the S6 Edge, which has managed to beat its sibling, the vanilla Galaxy S6, industry pundits believe that Samsung's Galaxy S6 Edge Plus is going to get a worldwide roll out. This upcoming phone is also expected to have a curved display.

Rumors have been circulating for months that Samsung does not want to wait for the release of the upcoming iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. In fact, the South Korean company wants to get a head start and beat Apple in the market with their new Galaxy S6 Edge Plus. And with the latest news, it appears that the rumors are true.

The Galaxy S6 Edge Plus is expected to be of the same size as the Note 5, with each expected to sport displays measuring 5.7 inches. And as the launch date of the devices draws closer, many are strongly speculating that they will both come with an Exynos 7420 processor and 4GB of RAM.

Though details about the RAM have not been confirmed, a report by GSMArena states that the S6 Edge Plus has been spotted on the Geekbench test site with 4 GB onboard.

Meanwhile, it is rumored that the tech company will not be making the Note 5 available globally. It is said that Samsung will only provide the Note 5 to select regions to avoid two of their devices taking up market shares.
