Galaxy S6 Edge Plus vs Nexus 6P: Curved screen device clinches it with speed and style

As newer phablets enter the market, the existing lineup is always getting refreshed with better models. When the Google Nexus 6P is pitted in a competition against the premium Galaxy S6 Edge from Samsung, it gives customers the opportunity to choose between agloriously beautiful devices and one that falls in the midrange, reports Gizmag.com.

Design

On first look, the S6 Edge Plus captures attention as it has dual curves on its display that flow over its right and left side. One of these curved edges can be customized on the device and it can display five important apps, five contacts and colors associated with them when they call, a night clock and notifications from apps. As for its build, it has a solid metal frame but its front and back are made from Gorilla Glass 4 and it has a fingerprint scanner in its home button. Coming to colors of the S6 Edge Plus, there are black, white, gold and silver options, while its competitor the Nexus 6P comes in silver, gray and white.

According to Gizmodo.com, the Nexus 6P has a major advantage in its build as it is made entirely of aluminum and so it is much sturdier than its competitor, but its fingerprint scanner is positioned at its rear where there is a broad protruding portion of plastic that houses its camera.

Display

The Nexus 6P comes with a 5.7 -inch AMOLED screen rendering a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and density of 518 pixels per inch (PPI). As for the S6 Edge Plus, it comes with a 5.7-inch super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and density of 518 pixels per inch.

Specs

Both devices have very good hardware. The Nexus 6P has the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset, coupled with an octa-core CPU comprised of four cores clocked at 1.55 GHz and four clocked at 2.0 GHz and an Adreno 430 GPU. The S6 Edge Plus, on the other hand, has the faster Exynos 7420 chipset, coupled with an octa-core CPU comprised of four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.5 GHz and four Cortex-A57 cores clocked at 2.1 GHz and a Mali-T760MP8 GPU.

Memory

Both devices do not have memory slots and so there is no possibility of external storage being added. As for RAM, the S6 Edge Plus is ahead with 4 GB while the Nexus 6P has 3 GB.

Camera

Here again the S6 Edge Plus is ahead with a 16 megapixel version that comes with optical image stabilization which is not present on the 12 megapixel version on the Nexus 6P.

Price

In terms of price , the Nexus 6P from Google has the edge as it costs $500 unlocked, while the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus has a price tag of $299 with a two year contract.
