The Galaxy S6 from Samsung is its latest flagship smartphone, but a much cheaper and bigger device, like Asus' ZenFone 2, has proven that it has what it takes to take on one of the best smartphones available in the market. Here is how the phablet-sized Asus ZenFone 2 with 4 GB of RAM compares to the redesigned Galaxy S6.

Design

The Galaxy S6 has a clear advantage, when it comes to design, as it comes with a sturdy metal frame and has Gorilla Glass 4 on its back panel. As for the colors, users have four options as it comes in white, gold, black and blue. The ZenFone 2, on the other hand, has a plastic body camouflaged with a metallic shine that gives it a premium look. It is important to take note that the device, despite more budget-friendly, is well designed and comes with smooth rounded edges. It is available in ceramic white, black, gold, gray and red.

Display

The ZenFone 2 has a bigger display though it is not as sharp as the version on the Galaxy S6 which has a super AMOLED screen measuring 5.1 inches with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a density of 577 pixels per inch. The ZenFone 2 uses an IPS screen measuring 5.5 inches with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a density of 403 pixels per inch.

Specs

The specs on the Galaxy S6 make it one of the very best smartphones in the market today. It comes with an Exynos 7420 chipset, an octa-core CPU with four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.5 GHz and four Cortex-A57 cores clocked at 2.1 GHz and a Mali-T760MP8 GPU. On the ZenFone 2 is an Intel Atom Z3580 chipset, a quad-core CPU clocked at 2.3 GHz and a PowerVR G6430 GPU.

Memory

The ZenFone 2 has a memory slot, which allows for the addition of up to 64 GB of external storage. The  Galaxy S6, however, does not come with a memory slot. As for RAM, the ZenFone 2 is ahead as it has 4 GB and the Galaxy S6 only has 3 GB.

Camera

The Galaxy S6, no doubt, has one of the most vivid smartphone cameras. It has a 16 megapixel rear camera with optical image stabilization while the ZenFone 2 simply has a 13 megapixel rear camera.

Price

There is very little that the Galaxy S6 can do to beat the price of the ZenFone 2. Without a contract the phablet from Asus costs a mere $300 while its competitor costs $199 with a two-year contract.
