Galaxy A9 release date confirmed to be Dec. 1 in official listing

(Samsung)Samsung Galaxy A9 expected to refresh the A8 soon

Samsung smartphones in the premium mid-range section have been attracting a lot of customers lately, and it looks like the company is going to refresh the Galaxy A8 with the A9 soon. Rumors about the A9 have been in circulation since March of this year and if the latest one is to be believed, then the company could be releasing the device on Dec. 1 in specific countries in Asia.

The latest rumor about the device arrived in the form of an official listing that was posted on Samsung's website in Iran. In the listing, a "placeholder" image was seen and it was of the Galaxy A8 but the text indicated that the Galaxy A9 would arrive on the first of December in the country. After the listing was made public, it was picked up by a number of websites that quickly pointed out that the device is expected to come with a metal body, which Samsung first tried out in the lineup.

The official Samsung listing also provided some details about the hardware on the device. GSMArena states that one of the main details was the chipset which was revealed to be a Snapdragon 620 version, coupled with a CPU comprised of four Cortex-A72 cores and four Cortex-A53 cores along with an Adreno 510 GPU. As for RAM, there is 3 GB onboard and the 32 GB of internal storage is expandable via a microSD slot that supports up to 128 GB. Coming to the Super AMOLED display size, it measures 5.5 inches and has a density of 401 pixels per inch.

After the official listing was seen in the Iranian site, the Galaxy A9 again surfaced in a leak on GeekBench, and SamMobile states that here it was seen with similar hardware.

It is likely that Samsung will be rolling out the Galaxy A9 along with other lower priced devices in the next month or so as a number of leaks have been emerging about them. These leaks also point toward the arrival of the Galaxy A7 (2016).
