'Game of Thrones' season 7 news: HBO debuts first-look shots; two new actors join cast

(Facebook/GameofThrones)HBO recently debuted first-look shots of "Game of Thrones" season 7 as part of the network's 2017 promo.

Fans recently got treated to a first look at the seventh season of "Game of Thrones." And although it didn't last very long and didn't provide any useful information as to the plot of the new season, it still managed to send fans into quite a frenzy online.

According to Watchers on the Wall, the first look at "Game of Thrones" season 7 was included in HBO's "Coming in 2017" promo. Quick shots of three main characters — siblings, in fact — were shown.

The first shot was of Jon Snow (Kit Harington), followed by Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) and Arya Stark (Maisie Williams). All thrown in together, the "Game of Thrones" part of the teaser didn't even last over five seconds.

However, it did bolster the speculation that there is going to finally be a Stark reunion in the upcoming season. Fans know that they have not seen each other since season 1 — apart from Jon and Sansa, who reunited toward the end of season 6. Now orphans, the Stark siblings have only each other to rely on, but it has been said that Sansa and Arya will initially disagree on many things, including how to rule Winterfell. And Littlefinger (Aidan Gillen), ever the manipulative weasel, will try to take advantage of this. Thankfully, though, with the help of Bran (Isaac Hempstead Wright), they manage to patch things up easily.

In other news, a separate report from Watchers on the Wall states that season 7 is getting two new Irish cast members. Brendan Morrissey and Rory Dignam are joining the seventh season of HBO's fantasy series. And while it has been revealed that Morrissey is portraying the Freys' Lord, Dignam's role is still shrouded in mystery.

"Game of Thrones" season 7 does not have a specific release date as of yet. However, it is believed that it will air sometime in summer 2017.
