Garmin Forerunner 735XT specs: new multisport running watch is $450

(Garmin)Garmin's new running watch comes with multisport features and a wrist-based heart rate monitor.

Garmin has introduced the Forerunner 735XT, a running watch with multisport features and a wrist-based heart rate monitor. The sleek and lightweight watch also comes with large display and a comfortable silicone band.

"The Forerunner 735XT is the ultimate GPS smartwatch for athletes who want dialed-in data for training and race day. It offers comprehensive date for all of their activities, keep them connected with smart features including notifications and automatic updates to Garmin Connect, and lets them customize their device to fit their needs," said Dan Bartel, Garmin vice president for worldwide sales.

The Garmin Forerunner 735XT comes built-in with the following activities — running, swimming, hiking, cycling, skiing, strength training, cardio, paddle sports, and multiport.

With the built-in Elevate heart rate technology, the watch is able to measure heart rate at the wrist. Users can view their real-time heart rate zone and beats per minute in a colorful gauge. The heart rate strap also provides advanced metrics including underwater heart rate while swimming, running dynamics, and V02 race predictor and recovery advisor. The Forerunner 735XT also comes preinstalled with the Strava Live Suffer Score app. The app will use the heart rate data to track total activity effort.

Furthermore, the Forerunner 735XT can also be customized to suit the needs of each user. Free apps, watch faces, and widgets can be downloaded from the Connect IQ store. The Garmin Connect Mobile also ensures that all smartphone notifications will be sent to the watch. Users can also receive comments from family and friends during workouts and runs, no matter how far they are.

The watch has a battery life that lasts up to 14 hours when used in training mode and can last up to 11 days when in watch mode.

The Garmin Forerunner 735XT is available in black/gray or midnight blue/frost blue for $449.99. It can also be purchased in a Run Bundle ($499.99) or in a Tri-Bundle ($599.99).
