It turns out that the initial leaked title and release date of Gears of War 4 were fake, according to reports.

Polygon reports that the official Xbox Twitch account was hacked when words like "gow_repercussion" and "embargo 11/7/14" were published.

Twitch has acknowledged that the account was compromised during Gamescom 2014.

"As a precautionary measure, we temporarily removed highlights and past broadcasts for those channels since it's in the early hours of the morning in Cologne," a representative from Twitch said.

The new developers of the game were first asked about the details of the fourth Gears of War game in May, and they were honest to tell everyone that they are still in the infancy stage of development.

"It's only been 100 days," project boss Rod Fergusson said in the inaugural Black Tusk webcast.

He added, "I can't go into a lot of depth about a lot of things. This isn't going to be the place where I announce the name of the next game and all these sorts of things. Obviously it's going to take some time to get to a point where we can do some stuff like that."

Cole Train, who portrayed Private Augustus, confirmed in his Twitter account that he will be returning as the voice actor of the game's protagonist.

"@MistaPeerez: @lesterspeight have you gotten a call about a new gears? You have to reprise your role! #whoobaby" "Yup!"

However, Train quickly denied that he was formally contacted by anyone from Gears of War 4, and that his tweet was just misinterpreted.

Meanwhile, Venture Beat was able to sit down with Gears of War designer Cliff Bleszinski following his retirement.

"I had been working, basically, since I was a kid, from having a paper route to working at McDonald's and a yogurt shop to going to college and working on games all night long until I had enough money to drop out."

He has just cofounded a new development studio that is presently at work on a new shooter video game entitled Blue Streak.
