Xbox head Phil Spencer was pleased to announce at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2016 the return of one of their classic shooter games, "Gears of War 4." Set for an October release, the game will be more intense than ever as the new characters will be facing bigger and more hellish-looking creatures known as the swarm amid a very harsh environment of the now ravaged Sera.

The latest "Gears of War" will be set 25 years after the events in "Gears of War 3." The device known as the Imulsion Countermeasure eradicated all of the glowing liquid fuel that played a very important role in previous games. However, by doing such, the people on planet Sera will have to look for another energy source. The device also brought violent storms that wreak havoc across the almost depleted planet. Meanwhile, their government, known as the Coalition of Ordered Governments (COG), noticed the decline of the human population at an alarming rate, and devised a preventive measure by building massive walls around key cities on the planet. There are some, though, who are not in favor of this move by the COG and eventually went outside these walled cities and now called the Outsiders. As a sign of protest, this group constantly attacks COG installations to gather much-needed supplies not knowing that there's another incoming threat outside city walls.

The new lineup of characters includes Kait Diaz, Del Walker, and JD Fenix, who is the son of the main character of previous "Gears of War" titles, Marcus Fenix. They set on a mission to save the people who are dear to them, but only to find out about an emerging threat.

Furthermore, for fans who prefer to play it on a multiplayer setting, the game will bring back an improved and a more intense Horde mode (Horde 3.0) where there will be more weapons, new classifications, more abilities, and most especially wave after wave of enemy hordes that are out to crush players' defense. What's yet to be known is if the title will still have the standard 50 waves of hordes for the said game mode or the developers increased the number of waves for some added fun while playing with friends.

"Gears of War 4" will be out this Oct. 11.
