"Gears of War 4" might have stolen the spotlight during the event held by Microsoft at E3, but the recently announced "Gears of War Ultimate Edition" is equally worthy of  attention. The remade version of the original game is due to be released this year but players were given an early gift when they were allowed to try the beta version at E3.

The beta version of "Gears of War Ultimate Edition" proved to be very popular soon after it launched. It immediately saw over one million matches taking place and players putting in playtime totaling over 120 years.

The remade "Gears of War" game is based on the original game in the franchise, which released nearly nine years ago. Its multiplayer and single player modes will have a resolution of 1080p and gameplay will run at 60fps. The "Gears of War Ultimate Edition" will also come with some new content including five brand new chapters based on campaigns. In addition, players who invest in the "Gears of War Ultimate Edition," which is due to be released on August 25, will get early access passes to the multiplayer beta for "Gears of War 4," which in turn, is scheduled to take place in 2016.

Several months before "Gears of War Ultimate Edition" was revealed, there were already a number of rumors, which suggest that the game was already in production. At the time, it was rumored that it would come with enhanced visuals and was thought to be named the "Marcus Fenix Collection." However, in March of this year, rumors around the "Marcus Fenix Collection" were shot down by Rod Fergusson, the head of developer, Black Tusk Studios, and stated that no such edition was in the works.

With the "Gears of War Ultimate Edition" set to land in August of this year, many gamers and gaming websites have started to compare it to the original game, which still has a huge fan following.
