53-year-old Hollywood veteran George Clooney finally tied the knot to his human rights lawyer fiancée, Amal Alamuddin, in a private wedding ceremony in Venice.

The pair showed off their wedding bands as they were jetted by a water taxi called "Amore" that picked them up in Venice's Aman Canal Grande resort, where the two hosted a brunch gathering for their family and friends.

Alamuddin wore a white long sleeved Giambattista Valli dress with lace and flower details while Clooney wore an elegant grey suit. It was told that the wedding ceremony was led by Clooney's close friend, Walter Vetroni, the former mayor of Rome.

Vetroni was seen jetting off in the Amore water taxi with the newlywed couple after the ceremony.

According to Italian Il Gazzettino, Clooney and Alamuddin exchanged vows on Saturday night at 8:18 pm, while a trio of saxophonist, pianist and a double-bassist played Mozart's music for the arriving guests.

The French AFP reported that the actor was nervous during the ceremony that he was shaking when it was time to cut the cake. Clooney and Alamuddin served a five-course dinner to their guests that included lemon risotto with lobster and sea bass or Chianina steak.

As much as Clooney and Alamuddin wanted to keep their wedding private, the pair ended up parading in the streets of Venice waving to paparazzi and fans that the pair passed by.
