'Girl Meets World' season 3 spoilers: teens venture into a new world

The new season of Disney Channel's "Girl Meets World" is just around the corner. Fans already got a taste of what is to come for their favorite characters, as the promo for the upcoming episodes has been released.

In the teaser, the teens are now facing a new chapter in their lives: high school. Everyone is excited to meet new friends and experiences, but are still a little apprehensive to venture to an unexplored world. The opening scene shows Riley Matthews (Rowan Blanchard), Maya Hart (Sabrina Carpenter) and Lucas Friar (Peyton Meyer), as well as their friends, trying to find the courage to mingle with other students.

Best buddies Riley and Maya are shown promising that they will stick with each other no matter what happens. While holding hands, a group of co-eds then gets in between them, effectively separating them in what may be a foreshadowing of what is to happen to their friendship. Will high school end up keeping the girls apart, or will it be Lucas, who has yet to decide whom he likes more between them?

In the clip, Lucas and Riley have a curious scene where he tells her that she is too much for him. Lucas then walks out, leaving Riley and the others staring at him.

Series creator and showrunner Michael Jacobs recently told The Wrap that season 3 would see the real score in the love triangle between Lucas, Riley and Maya. He said that the given plot would always be an "underlying" story for the first half of the new installment.

"This will be answered in Season 3. It will span probably a third to a half of Season 3. Not as primary focus, but always as an underlying thing in existence for the characters. And then when we bring it up to primary, we will resolve it in a way that shows an answer to a much bigger question, which is, how do young people at this age perceive relationships?" he said.

"Girl Meets World" season 3 is expected to air its premiere episode this June.
