Google Nexus 6P vs HTC One M9: size differs but processor is the same

Google released its premium Nexus 6P phablet recently but the smaller sized HTC One M9 is going to give it a run for its money as both feature similar hardware and design. This is how these two metal-bodied devices compare in a face off. 

Design

When it comes to design, the Nexus 6P has a solid metal body and rounded edges. Its rear has a glass panel that protrudes from the body, runs along the top and shields the camera. Its fingerprint scanner is positioned at the rear, just below the camera. The device comes in three colors: frost, graphite, and aluminum.

Coming to the device from HTC, it has a shiny metal unibody that has been hand polished and it has curved corners. However, it does not have a fingerprint scanner and is a much smaller device, falling in the smartphone category. Finally, in terms of colors, it comes in gray, a silver/gold combination, a gold/pink combination, and amber gold. 

Display

There is less sharp 5.0-inch super LCD3 screen on the HTC One M9, with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and density of 441 pixels per inch. The Nexus 6P, meanwhile, has an AMOLED screen measuring 5.7 inches with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and density of 518 pixels per inch. 

Specs

Coming to hardware, however, these devices are similar as each has the latest and fastest Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset coupled with an octa-core CPU comprised of four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.5 GHz and four Cortex-A57 cores clocked at 2 GHz along with an Adreno 430 GPU. 

Memory

There is no memory slot on the Nexus 6P and so, it is at a disadvantage compared to the HTC One M9 which has a slot that supports up to 128 GB of external storage. As for RAM, each has 3 GB on board. 

Camera

As the rear of the Nexus 6P is a 12-megapixel camera while the HTC One M9 has a 20-megapixel version.

Battery

The Nexus 6P has a bigger 3450 mAh battery while its competitor has a 2840 mAh version.

Price

The Google Nexus 6P costs $500 unlocked while the HTC One M9 costs $199 with a two year contract.
