'Gotham' Season 2 Episode 12 Spoilers: Midseason Premiere Introduces Mr. Freeze

(Gotham / Facebook)Gotham season 2

Fans of the hit crime drama TV series "Gotham" are in for some chilling developments when the show returns for the second half of its season 2. Spoiler reports indicate that the midseason opener will finally introduce a new set of supervillains from the DC Universe.

The details shared over at The Futon Critic for the episode titled "Wrath of the Villains: Mr. Freeze" give hints at the arrival of Mr. Freeze, played by "House of Cards" actor Nathan Darrow and Hugo Strange, essayed by "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" and "Jurassic World" star, BD Wong.

The promo video for the episode reveals that the titular city will soon be teeming with more villains that Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) and the brave police force of GCPD can manage. The first salvo would come from Gotham's preeminent cryogenics engineer, Victor Fries, who got suspected with a string of crimes involving the theft of dead bodies.

Making the matters worse for Jim is the fact that the police can't stand against Fries, who is now infamously known as Mr. Freeze. The clip shows a number of his victims, which include police officers, getting frozen right where they stood.

"He's desperate and extremely dangerous," Jim can be heard saying, probably addressing to a group of operatives.

Scenes went on to reveal just how dangerous the enemy is as he takes aim of his cold gun to a lady officer.

"They think guns can stop me? They have no idea," Mr. Freeze says.

Old troubles are also catching up in season 2B. Robin Lord Taylor, the star who plays Oswald Cobblepot in the series, spoke with ComicBook.com about the decline of his character more into the dark side.

Back in the first half of the season, his mother was killed. Then on the later part, his name got tied to the murder of Theo Galavan (James Frain).

"He's untethered now, he can be the monster that everybody has always viewed him as," Taylor says. "Now that he has that license, it's going to get a lot darker."

Don't miss "Gotham" season 2B premiere airing this Monday, Feb. 29 at 8 .m. on Fox.
