'GTA 6' release date in 2020? 'GTA 6' to feature world map?

(Rockstar Games / Grand Theft Auto)A release date for "Grand Theft Auto VI" has yet to be announced.

For the past several months leading up to the 2016 E3, rumors about a possible unveiling of "Grand Theft Auto VI" became rampant. However, the game wasn't introduced or even mentioned at the said event, leading to speculation that this launch won't happen anytime soon.

With Microsoft and Sony's new consoles making the headlines, people are expecting that the next "GTA" game will be released just in time for when the Xbox Scorpio and PlayStation Neo arrive, which is sometime in 2018, N4BB reported. But now, rumor has it that "GTA VI" won't even be ready by then and may be available in 2020, which is still a long wait.

Without so much of an official confirmation coming from Rockstar or Take-Two Interactive, it is expected that rumors about the sixth installment of the franchise will get crazier by the minute.

So far, talks about a female protagonist continue to circulate. This has been reported several times in the past and it was said that Eva Mendes would be on board for the character's voice. Since Mendes is part of the rumor mill, her real-life partner, Ryan Gosling, is also speculated to be part of the installment as the new male character.

The game's location and maps have also been favorite subjects of the rumor mill. Previous reports mentioned that "GTA VI" may feature maps from previous installments combined altogether, but N4BB gathered that Rockstar may be going for a bolder move – to use an entire world map. If there is truth to this rumor, "GTA VI" is expected to be big and the long wait by fans will be worth it.

At this point, nothing is certain when it comes to the fate of "GTA VI." As of the moment, Rockstar is currently focused on the successful "Grand Theft Auto Online." Rumor even has it that any development plans for "GTA VI" may have been put on hold because developers will want to bank on the success of the online multiplayer version of the game.
