It is widely rumored that the follow-up to popular game "Grand Theft Auto V" will be released in two years. Although not officially confirmed, there have been speculations about "Grand Theft Auto 6" being dropped sometime in 2018, based on the franchise's pattern of release.

Neurogadget believes that 2018 is a realistic year to pin the launch to due to the gap between "GTA 4" and "GTA 5." The time it took in between games was five years, which means Rockstar Games spent that amount of time to develop "GTA 5." Should the same pattern be followed, it would make sense for "GTA 6" to be released in 2018, given that its predecessor was released in 2013. However, it should also be noted that it took the studio seven years to produce "GTA 4" after "GTA 3," which means fans could be looking at a sixth installment release in 2020.

As for its setting, it is widely believed that "GTA 6" will boast a new location—specifically, London. Rumors have been adamant that the change in scenery has to do with a couple of the game's early versions. Although the "GTA" universe has been primarily set in the United States, these two versions took place in London. Another popular contributor to this theory is the fact that many of the games' developers hail from the U.K.

Back in 2013, Dan Houser of Rockstar Games spoke to The Guardian about the possibility of setting "GTA" in London.

"I think for us, my gut feeling is, 'GTA London' was cool for the time, but games were more limited then. These days I think we would love to set a game in the UK, set in London, whatever, but I don't know if it would be a 'GTA' game," Houser shared back then.

Other than that, speculations are rife that Hollywood couple Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling are set to lend their voices to the upcoming game. And as with new installments in the 'GTA' franchise, 'GTA 6' is likely going to feature new vehicles as well.
