'GTA 6' release date, location rumors: game won't be announced at E3; Boston, Tokyo setting possible?

(Rockstar Games Official)

Rockstar Games remains quiet about any updates to their most anticipated sequel, "Grand Theft Auto VI." However, rumors continue to circulate, building the hype for the game and making fans all the more excited about its release.

According to previous reports, "GTA VI" could be set in Tokyo, Japan. Game designers have reportedly been sent to the area to get a feel of the location and to help develop a world map for the upcoming game.

There are also reports stating that the next installment may not cross overseas but rather take the same North American setting as previous "GTA" games.

It is strongly predicted that "GTA VI" will even be set the same way as San Andreas or in a combination of world maps from previous installments, Day Herald reported. On the other hand, VineReport stated that Boston could also be one of the American cities likely to be turned into "GTA VI's" setting. The publication detailed that the reason Boston could be picked is because of its history and the urban vibe it offers.

As for the release date, fans are hoping that Rockstar Games will make a big announcement about the game at the 2016 Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). However, several media outlets are expecting Rockstar not to mention the game but instead drop details about the sequel to another one of its most anticipated titles, "Red Dead Redemption."

Rockstar's lack of updates about "GTA VI" also led to speculations that the developer is currently working on fresh content for "Grand Theft Auto Online."

In addition, it is widely speculated that fans won't be seeing the release of "GTA VI" anytime soon, considering the developer is observed to follow a release date pattern of five years in between each game. With that said, "GTA VI" might probably make it to the shelves by 2018, the earliest since the current installment, "GTA V," came out in 2013.

As always, readers are advised to take these reports with a pinch of salt and just wait for Rockstar's official announcement.
