'Grey's Anatomy' season 12 spoilers: Callie and Arizona go 'Kramer vs Kramer' in episode 22

(Facebook/GreysAnatomy)More drama and excitement in back-to-back episodes of "Grey's Anatomy" season 12

There was a time when Callie (Sara Ramirez) and Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) were so in love, but life got in the way, and the once in-love exes are now battling it out in court over the custody of their child, Sofia (Eva Ariel Binder), a la "Kramer vs. Kramer."

In episode 22 of "Grey's Anatomy," Callie and Arizona will continue to hurt each other, with Sofia getting caught in the crossfire.

In the promo trailer of episode 22, Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) starts off by recounting the Bible story of how King Solomon wisely judged the two mothers who were also feuding over a baby. In the story, the King ordered for the baby to be cut in half to be fair to each of the women. Meredith went on to say that before the order was carried out, the issue got resolved when one of the mothers gave up her right to the child.

However, both Callie and Arizona do not want to relinquish their right over Sofia and decided to fight tooth and nail over it.

In the beginning, Arizona was willing to negotiate by suggesting that each of them will have a scheduled visitation every other week. However, Callie was close-hearted about it and insisted on school breaks and summer visitation. As expected, Arizona shunned the offer and decided to go head-on with the battle, but not without the warning of her lawyer.

It is going to be an intense episode that will leave the audience torn between Callie and Arizona. According to TVLine, when asked whether the couple tried to make things right out of court, Kevin McKidd, who plays Owen, says that the couple did "try to connect at a certain point, but the lawyers get in there and do their lawyering thing and cause damage, so [the ex-wives'] interaction is very charged. There are a lot of hurt feelings. They try to stay civil, but it's hard when things get thrown at you by a lawyer. Arizona especially, I think, really feels hard done in the courtroom."

"Grey's Anatomy" airs every Thursday at 8 p.m EST on ABC.
