The new season of "Grey's Anatomy" has got fans talking. The 13th season of the medical drama is said to be shifting its focus to its original stars. But there's one original cast member also making waves online. It has been rumored that Sandra Oh will be back to reprise her role as Dr. Cristina Yang.

"Grey's Anatomy" has lost many of its original stars, including McDreamy himself, Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey). Killing Derek off was something that everyone did not anticipate. And with only a handful of original characters left for season 13, it would make sense for the show to turn the spotlight to them.

After over a decade, only four original characters remain. Meredith (Ellen Pompeo), Alex (Justin Chambers), Miranda (Chandra Wilson), and Richard (James Pickens Jr.). Relative newcomer Kelly McCreary, who plays Maggie on the show, spoke to TVGuide about the impending season.

"After such a long period of time and so many new people coming in and out, they remain the foundational characters of the show," she pointed out.

Going back to its roots may be a wise option at this point, especially with the addition of a lot of new characters over the years.

"We're gonna be spending some more time with them to check in with where they are. The way that we spent time with Meredith last season, exploring the major shift in her life, the loss of Derek, I think we can expect to see those doctors being explored where they are in this moment, all these years later, the changes that they've gone through," she continued.

Speaking of original cast members, there has been word spreading that Cristina Yang may come back to shake things up. There has been no confirmation of such a thing happening, but Oh has managed to fuel the rumors when she posted photos of herself and Kevin McKidd (Owen) on Twitter in June, referring to the latter as her "TV husband."

It would be impeccable timing for her character to return. Oh's comeback will definitely cause a lot of drama to take place, especially since he former beau, Owen, now has his happily ever after with a different woman, Amelia (Caterina Scorsone).

"Grey's Anatomy" season 13 will premiere on Sept. 22 on ABC.
