'Grimm' season 6 spoilers: Series to return January 2017; online petition launched to save show

(Facebook/NBCGrimm)Fans have started an online petition to try and save their favorite show.

"Grimm" will be back for a sixth and final season early next year. However, some fans are not yet ready to say goodbye to the show and are taking steps to save it.

NBC announcing that "Grimm's" sixth season will also be its last didn't come as a big surprise to many. After all, the once-popular series had been slowly going down the ratings chart. There's also the fact that the upcoming season was shortened, with the network only picking up 13 episodes instead of the usual 22.

While some fans have accepted the end and are just looking forward to what promises to be a great but bittersweet season, some are still fighting to save the show. An online petition has since gone up asking other networks to pick up the series. But based on the number of signatories, it's unlikely that another network would be compelled to continue the show.

Despite the show being canceled, the cast are still determined to give fans their best season yet. Star David Giuntoli, who plays the Grimm, expressed his love to the show's fans on social media, while his co-star Bitsie Tulloch said the show will go out with a bang.

It seems that's exactly what the cast and crew are planning to do as season 6 will start off just seconds after the epic fight between Nick Burkhardt and former police chief Sean Renard. There have been reports that Renard will be next season's big bad and that there's no love lost between the two former allies.

Fans are also excited to see Monroe and Rosalee's baby and are hoping that Nick and Adalind will have a happy ending. As for Eve, she'll still play a major role next season. But how she'll deal with the influx of Juliette's emotions and memories is something that fans are looking forward to seeing.

"Grimm" season 6 will be returning to NBC on Jan. 6, 2017.
