'GTA 6' release date, gameplay: VR-ready sequel coming in 2018? E3 2017 announcement possible?

(Rockstar Games official)'GTA 6' is reportedly arriving in 2018, with a possible launch date on E3 2017

Fans have long waited for the announcement of "Grand Theft Auto 6." There have already been several game events this year, including the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2016 in June and Gamescom just last month, but the game remains elusive. However, latest reports suggest that Rockstar might finally unveil a new installment to the racing-themed video game at a Sony press event this month.

The rumors started when industry insider Tidux posted a cryptic message on Twitter hinting at an announcement related to Rockstar Games at the PlayStation Meeting (PSM). There have been speculations that "Red Dead Redemption 2" will be revealed at the event, but it turns out that "GTA 6" has also been tied to the rumor. Since both games are properties of Rockstar Games, it is assumed that either one or both will be launched at PSM. Further, speculations are rife that "GTA 6" will be unveiled this month but the game will be released in 2017.

Other reports, however, stated that the game will be released in 2018 since Rockstar has been observed to have a four to five-year gap in between released games. If there won't be an announcement regarding "GTA 6" this year, Rockstar might give some at next year's E3 event, rumors suggested.

Since rumors of a 2018 release are rampant, it is also believed that "GTA 6" will soon be compatible with Virtual Reality (VR) technology. Neurogadget even predicted that the game could come as a bundle for the upcoming Xbox Scorpio and PS4 Neo.

There has also been talk about the upcoming game's location. Earlier reports suggest that the game will follow a similar style as "GTA: Vice City." There were also speculations about a 1960-themed installment set in London. A Tokyo-set "GTA 6" has also been heavily rumored in the past, while some players have hoped that the new game would cover several U.S. cities.

So far, Rockstar has yet to deny or confirm all the rumors surrounding the title.
