'GTA 6' release date: fans predict 2018 or 2020 launch

(Rockstar Games)Fans are getting restless regarding the release of "GTA 6" but can settle at the moment for "GTA 5: Online" to pass the time.

Rockstar Studios has been mum on the release date of "GTA 6" and fans can't wait any longer, which is why rumors are flying left and right regarding a potential release date.

Some consider the game to be released either in 2018 or 2020. The 2018 rumor is based on the pattern seen in the release dates of "GTA 4" and GTA 5," which had a five-year development gap. "GTA 4" was released back in 2008, while "GTA 5" in 2013. On the other hand, the rumored 2020 release date is from the theory based on the release date of "GTA 3" back in 2001 and "GTA 4" in 2008 with a seven-year development gap, making the connection that since "GTA 5" was released back in 2013 then "GTA 6" might likewise be released in 2020.

Furthermore, there are also rumors suggesting that "GTA 6" will be released in line with the next-generation consoles, either the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Two. There are also speculations on a possibile VR functionality for the game. All these fan rumors and theories are actually plausible given the time frame, but since Rockstar studios hasn't revealed anything to the public yet, anything is possible at this point.

However, gamers and fans are eager to wait on what transpires in the upcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), because some mention that the developers might spill some information about their next project either in the form of "Red Dead Redemption 2" or "GTA 6." However, some are skeptical mentioning that the studio might just reveal a remastered version of "GTA 3," "Vice City," and "San Andreas" for the existing consoles.

This just verifies the increasing anticipation and hype coming from gamers and fans regarding this AAA game developer. The pressure is indeed mounting in the hopes that they deliver a game either this 2016 or later. In the meantime, fans and gamers can preoccupy themselves with "GTA 5" and "GTA 5: Online."
