Rumors have been laid to rest as H1Z1 is now officially confirmed to receive a PS4 release date.

"Though Sony Online Entertainment has stated multiple times already that they were planning on bringing it to the PlayStation 4. Today, the studio confirmed that that will indeed be the case," Sony Online Entertainment President John Smedley confirmed.

The confirmation was supported by nearly two hours of gameplay footage.

The trailer of the post apocalyptic action adventure was almost too much to handle for blood and gore reasons.

However, the streaming session dropped some major hints that can be rendered useful when H1Z1 releases next year.

The free-for-all combo mechanics taught players that each weapon will carry a special combo to strike out enemies.

The video also showcased the typical surviving techniques during a zombie apocalypse – scavenging for food, clothing and weapon.

"In the survival genre, it's very very important to get the basics right," Senior Game Designer Jimmy Whisenhunt emphasized during the SOE Live.

He also underscored the high value of the company for quality as the reason why they are unable to provide any confirmation on the H1Z1 release date.

"We're SONY Online, so we have a certain level of quality we like to achieve before putting a game out. And the fact is it doesn't go out until we are happy with it."

Already, H1Z1 is trying to cement its name as a strong contender for MMO kingship with their win as the "Best Game to Mess with Your Friends" during PAX Prime 2014.

Griffin Vacheron of Crave Online was able to get his hands on the game demo during the recent Pax Prime event:

"H1Z1 is first and foremost about freedom, and how the player decides to use that freedom is going to both shape and define their experience," he said in his review.

Aside from being transparent (except for the release date), the H1Z1 game developers have decided to greatly involve players into the entire development process through Early Access on Steam.
