Earlier reports citing Half-Life 3's release date of February 3, 2015 is a sponsorship joke thanks to a fan who got a sweet $10 deal to get this printed on a competing car in the Nurburging endurance race in Germany.

Kotaku reported that the fan is an avid member of Jalopnik reader community and could be one of those eager fans that have been waiting for almost a decade for the launch of the new Half-Life installment.

The last Half-Time game was marketed in 2007, and since then, Valve (makers of the game) has been silent about it, except for one instance in 2013 when actor John Patrick Lowrie said that the game was held up because of some challenges including capture for the characters.

But, hopes were restored when Counter Strike co-creator and ex-Valve employee Minh "Gooseman" Le claimed that he has seen the concept art for Half-Life 3.

"I don't think I can talk about that, to be honest, but I think it's kind of public knowledge, that people know that it is being worked on. And so if I were to say that yeah, I've seen some images, like some concept art of it, that wouldn't be big news to be honest," Le said.

He added, "But yeah, I mean like I guess I could say that I did see something that looked kinda like in the Half-Life universe. And I mean it wouldn't surprise anyone if I said they're doing it, they're working on it, yeah. So to go on a limb I'd say I did see some concept art for Half-Life 3."

While there is no official announcement of the release date yet, fanboys have come up with a wishlist of what they are expecting to see or experience for Half-Life 3.

The list includes additional stealth elements, virtual reality support, co-op campaign, return to Xen, open world, portal gun, and most of all – game launch in 2015.
