'Half Life 3' news: Developer Gabe Newell tells fans game not being produced yet; Valve won't let another company develop it

It has been ten years since "Half Life 2" was released and fans are still waiting for the next installation of the game.

"Half Life" fans were half hoping that Valve would reveal that "Half Life 3" is finally in the pipeline at this year's E3. It was a bitter pill to swallow that the company made no such announcement. As a matter of fact, the game was not mentioned at all.

While there were some very disappointed fans, there were others who were expecting it. After all, Valve co-founder Gabe Newell had already told fans earlier this year that the game is not in production and will not see the light of day anytime soon. Unfortunately, Gabe did not deny the game's imminent release either, so some fans read that as "Half Life" possibly being produced in the future.

Since the developer does not appear to be too keen on continuing the game, fans are wondering why Valve does not give "Half Life 3" to a third party developer to produce. The logical answer is that no game developer or producer can cope with fans' high expectations for the game.

There is also the fact that "Half Life" is one of the biggest and hottest franchises around, so the third installation will undoubtedly be a global success when it does arrive, so it is logical that Valve would not want to risk missing out on that.

A large number of fans are also against another company producing "Half Life 3" as it might ruin the game's legacy. After all, a new developer will push its own ideas for the series, ultimately changing the flow and feel of the game.

Fans seem to accept the fact that no other developer can work on "Half Life 3" except Valve. It is probably why the game's dedicated fans are willing to wait until the rapture arrives for Valve to release "Half Life 3."
