"'Half-Life 2 Episode 3' has been cancelled. The project has turned into a full-fledged title confirmed to be 'Half-Life 3,'" the post wrote.

It was previously believed that the game would be formally announced during the Electronic Entertainment Expo or E3 in June. However, no such declaration was made during the event and hope fleeted away.

With the information from numerous reports claiming that the game is in progress, many now believe that Valve is working toward adopting the sequel into virtual reality territory. The world of gaming was shaken up with the introduction of virtual reality.
