There is no denying that "Halo" is one of the most successful video game franchises in recent history. Because of the success of the series, it comes as no surprise that the games fifth installment is lauded as one of the most anticipated releases of this year.

While fans of the popular game await the return of Master Chief in "Halo 5: Guardians," one key element of the franchise is said to be taken out of the new installment.

According to Christian Today, the company handling "Halo 5: Guardians," 343 Industries, said that it was not adding its usual split-screen feature. The reason, as reported, is to give way for the developers to fully utilize the features on Xbox One.

This news was announced through the halowaypoint site, where developers blog about the new features that will be arriving to the new installment. A developer named JOSHINGTONSTATE wrote:

"With Halo 5 we are delivering massive scale environments, improved AI behavior, increased visual and gameplay fidelity, something that truly takes advantage of a new platform. Many of our ambitious goals for Halo 5 would be compromised in a split-screen setting and the time spent optimizing and addressing split-screen-specific issues would take focus from building other parts of the game."

This was a big disappointment for most of the fans. Tech times has also reported that many fans of the franchise are planning to boycott the new installment since the split-screen feature has been an integral part of "Halo." The feature in question allows two gamers to play using just one Xbox console without worrying about being disconnected from a network.

However, this does not mean that 343 Industries has closed its door yet on the split-screen feature. There is still a possibility that the split-screen mode would come back in the form of a patch.

"Halo 5: Guardians" is scheduled to be released on Oct. 27,2015.
