'Hawaii Five-O' season 7 air date, spoilers: Catherine and Steve to meet again

(Facebook/HawaiiFive0CBS)Steve's old love returns in "Hawaii Five-0" season 7.

Catherine Rollins (Michelle Borth) and Steve McGarett (Alex O'Loughlin) will be all business when they meet each other again in the upcoming season of "Hawaii Five-O."

Last installment, Cath broke Steve's heart when she decided to go to Nepal to help out with the earthquake victims there. The commander was actually about to ask the lady to marry him, but her announcement caught him by surprise. Even though Steve was against Cath's decision to leave, he had no choice but to let her go.

In season 7, recent reports say that she will once again return to Hawaii and meets up with the old gang. Cath, however, has no intention of getting back with her ex-boyfriend. Steve also looks like he has no plans to woo her back.

Executive producer Peter Lenkov made it clear with Entertainment Weekly that the former couple would not renew their love affair.

"People are interpreting it like her coming back into the relationship and starting all over again, but I just don't think that can happen after all that these two have gone through. Her relation to the story is more plot driven than reigniting that relationship," the EP said.

Meanwhile, the new season is expected to introduce a batch of new characters, both friends and foe. As per Game N Guide, the state will have a new governor in the person of Keiko Mahoe, who will be played by Rosalind Chao. A new criminal profiler will also be added to the team. Actress Claire Forlani is set to portray Alicia, a recurring role. The squad will also be pitted against a clever British M16 agent, James Whistler, who was introduced in season 3. Chris Vance has recently been tapped to take over the role. Another interesting character in the new installment is Lucky (Faran Tahir), a rich Egyptian businessman.

"Hawaii Five-O" season 7 will return on Sept. 23 on CBS.
