Although Disney has been mum on the possible guest appearance of Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens in the highly anticipated "High School Musical 4," the latest in the rumor mill is that the two former lead stars of the previous "High School Musical" installments are, indeed, part of the TV event, and that their characters will finally tie the knot in the TV musical movie.

It was in March this year when Disney announced that it was producing a fourth "High School Musical." While it was also announced that the TV special will usher in new faces and characters, many "High School Musical" fans have expressed hope that Efron and Hudgens will reprise their Troy Bolton and Gabriella Montez roles, respectively.

Despite the clamor of the fans, Disney, Efron, and Hudgens have been tight-lipped on the possibility of the return of Troy Bolton and Gabriella Montez even just for a special appearance on "High School Musical 4." However, lately, the excitement of the fans has been fueled after Efron posted throwback photos of him and former "High School Musical" colleagues on his Instagram account, something that led many into thinking that Efron was actually hinting his return to "High School Musical."

Apart from the speculations on the return of Efron and Hudgens, there are also rumors claiming that the two stars' respective characters will be featured to get married in the upcoming "High School Musical" sequel. While it's true that these talks are nothing more than rumors at this point in time, they surely excite the fans further.

Earlier, it was reported that the chance for Hudgens to be part of "High School Musical 4" was bleak as, allegedly, her current boyfriend, Austin Butler, has forbidden her to make any form of contact with Efron, whom she dated from 2005 to 2010. If the rumors saying that Efron and Hudgens' characters are, indeed, to get married on "High School Musical 4," fans can only wonder what might have changed Butler's heart, in the event that the rumors about him forbidding Hudgens to work with Efron are true.

Meanwhile, apart from being mum on Efron and Hudgens' participation in "High School Musical 4," Disney has also not released an official statement as to when "High School Musical 4" will arrive on the small screen.
