'Homeland' season 6 spoilers: Dar Adal stops Carrie from returning to the CIA

(Facebook/HomelandonShowtime)Dar Adal will go against Carrie in "Homeland" season 6.

Carrie's (Claire Danes) eventual return to the CIA will be thwarted by the vengeful Dar Adal (F. Murray Abraham) in the upcoming season of "Homeland."

As per the official trailer for the new installment, Carrie is back in the United States after working for a foundation based in Berlin, Germany. She is still determined to put as much distance as she can from Saul (Mandy Patinkin) and the CIA. Her old mentor wants her back in the team but Carrie knows the setbacks she will face once she returns. Now that she has reunited with her daughter Frannie after many months of being apart, she wants to make up for all the lost time.

While Saul appears to be convincing Carrie to return, the Black Ops director, Dar, is the opposite. In the promo, he tells Carrie she is still a menace and she will do well to stay out of his way in the future. She, on the other hand, is not so easily intimidated. Carrie matches Dar's aggressive tone, warning him to stay away from her. It looks like the older man is worried that she will return to Langley again and make problems for him. Carrie has no wish to be around him any more than he does.

Meanwhile, it has been teased that Saul and Dar's new assignment is to assist the first female ever to be elected as president of the U.S. Former senator Elizabeth Keane (Elizabeth Marvel) has been chosen by the American people to lead them for the next four years. The CIA will work closely with her team, assisting her with regards to intel briefings.

Showrunner Alex Gansa previously talked about the new POTUS in the series.

"We kind of hedged our bets. Although she is a woman, she's a little bit Hillary, a little bit Donald Trump and a little bit Bernie Sanders. Anything can happen," the EP teased, according to IndieWire.

She adds: "Dar and Saul are tasked with giving intelligence briefings to the new president-elect. Dar has got skin in this game — definitely."

"Homeland" season 6 airs on Sunday, Jan. 15 at 9 p.m. EST on Showtime.
