Honor 6 Plus specs and features to rival iPhone 6 Plus

Just a little less than two months after Honor 6 was launched, Huawei's new line of smartphones, Honor, has expanded to add one more spectacular phone to its family.

On December 16, Huawei launched Honor 6 Plus at the Arts District in Beijing. With its specs and design, it certainly gives the iPhone 6 Plus a run for its money, which it intends to rival. Although under Huawei's name, the new smartphone line sports the name "Honor" at the back of the device.

Set to rival the iPhone 6 Plus, the 7.5-mm thick Honor 6 Plus is armed with a 5.5-inch display, a 1920x1080 resolution, and Kirin 925 octa-core processor. It runs on Android Kitkat 4.4 with Huawei's own Emotion UI 3.0 over it, and 3GB of ram with 3600mAh battery. Apart from its 32GB internal storage, its microSD card slot allows 128GB expansion.

But that's not the best part. Honor 6 Plus is all for the images, bearing two side-by-side 8MP camera at the back, both for single image capture, which makes photos sharper and cleaner. It also allows the user to refocus the foreground and background, and offers more filters such as tilt shift, sketch, and comics. Another 8MP camera is situated on the front of the device.

Huawei also included freebies, such as 100GB of lifetime cloud storage, and free access to over 8 million hotspots in the world, with the 7 million being in China. The company released a 3G and 4G version of the phone, which costs $320 and $400, respectively.

The company has not yet announced if all these features will be available in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, or other parts of the world. However, on December 11, a TV commercial aired at New York's Times Square, headlined "Not Just Bigger," a jab at iPhone 6 Plus' "Bigger than bigger" slogan. This suggests that Huawei might also bring Honor 6 Plus to the American market.
