'House of Cards' season 5 news, rumors: Series welcomes two new faces; roles to be revealed after U.S. elections?

(Facebook/House of Cards)Rumors claim that Claire Underwood (Robin Wright) will connive with Doug Stamper (Michael Kelly) to murder Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey) in "House of Cards" season 5.

While the hit Netflix political drama series "House of Cards" season 5 does not have an official release schedule yet, fans can already expect new faces on the series who will play important roles. However, if rumors are to be believed, the new actors' characters are still being withheld from the public as, allegedly, the production of "House of Cards" are still waiting for the outcome of the U.S. presidential elections.

According to an exclusive report of The Hollywood Reporter, Patricia Clarkson and Campbell Scott are the latest cast inclusions in "House of Cards" season 5. However, as of this writing, the respective roles that they will play are still under wraps and, allegedly, will only be revealed once the upcoming U.S. presidential elections on Nov. 8 are done and over with. After all, the series is considered to be the best reflection of the U.S political system.

While there are new faces who will be ushered into the show, there are also old and familiar faces who are not coming back for the series' upcoming season, like Mahershala Ali. The actor played the role of the Remy Danton on "House of Cards," Frank Underwood's (Kevin Spacey) or the President of the United States' (POTUS) Chief of Staff.

Ali has committed to another Netflix series, Marvel's "Luke Cage," which was released last month.

However, if persistent rumors are to be believed, it seems that it is not only Ali who is leaving "House of Cards" as it is also alleged that the series' most important character, Spacey's Frank Underwood, may be killed off on the series, too. Allegedly, the POTUS will die in the hands of his trusted aide, Doug Stamper (Michael Kelly) as he connives with Frank Underwood's wife, Claire (Robin Wright), who is said to be planning to use Frank's death to gain public sympathy to thrust her ambition of holding the highest political position in the U.S.

Meanwhile, it is suspected that "House of Cards" season 5 will arrive between February and March next year as the previous seasons of the series were released around those months.
