'House of Cards' season 5 plot spoilers: Frank Underwood may end up winning the Presidential elections

(House of Cards / Facebook)"House of Cards" season 5 might end with Frank keeping the Presidential seat.

In the upcoming "House of Cards" season 5, there is a possibility that Frank Underwood will end up victorious in the US Presidential election, defeating his own wife Claire.

According to reports, despite Frank's seemingly worse position in the elections, there's a huge chance that he will have the last laugh and keep his throne and power.

By the end of season 4, it was clear that the First Lady is determined to take over the Oval Office and she has become Frank's tightest rival. One of the people who will help her make that happen is her capable assistant Leanne Harvey. Neve Campbell, the actress who plays as Claire's right hand, revealed in her interview with GQ magazine that she will have an interesting and challenging role next season.

"It's the fun of the character that she's not afraid to go toe-to-toe with Frank Underwood and Claire and meet them in intelligence and courage," Campbell described Leanne. "I think that's what's so fascinating to the audiences about this show. The political world is intriguing and different from us, what that world is.

Knowing how cunning Frank can be, Claire's ambition to overthrow her husband from the highest government power is expected to be very challenging for her next season. He may use whatever dirt his wife has in the past to use it against her. Just like Leanne, Frank also has a very trusted right hand, named Doug Stamper, who is the perfect person to do the digging.

However, the rumor mill speculates that the two aides from both sides might end up in a romantic relationship. The two trusted assistants were not even friendly in the previous season so it would be interesting to see how their relationship would progress into a whole new level.

"House of Cards" season 5 is expected to come out in March 2017. However, this hasn't been confirmed by Netflix yet.
