HTC reportedly cancels its plans for an HTC One (M8) Prime. Tipster evleaks tweeted that the alleged upcoming device is postponed indefinitely.

Recently, the Taiwanese phone maker HTC was rumored to have two upcoming versions of its flagship phone to be unveiled shortly – the HTC One (M8) Ace and HTC One Prime.

HTC One Ace, also known as the HTC One Ace Vogue Edition, officially appeared on Thursday with a June 3 release date. However, the other version is postponed indefinitely.

Expected to compete with LG G3, the HTC One (M8) Prime was rumored to come in a rubber compound and aluminum, with a ceramic build, 5.5-inch 2560 x 1440 quad-HD display, Snapdragon 805 processor, 3GB RAM and 18 and 5MP rear- and front-facing cameras. The release date pointed to a September launch, but has now become blurred.

With the M8 Prime suspended with no definite release, the tech industry can only speculate on the reasons for its fate. However, HTC buyers can at least look forward to one updated version of the company's flagship smartphone launched this week.

Along with M8 Prime, which may not to appear on store shelves this year, news still reported that the Prime will possess impressive specs; and not only that. HTC is reported to have two other smartphones coming – HTC One (M8) Advance and HTC One (M8) Plus, with M8 Plus rumored to come out this summer.

M8 Plus is said to be a copycat of the original M8 Ace, but with a quad HD display.

Innovation is always sought-after in the world of mobile devices. Smartphones just keep getting better and these updates show HTC is still very much in the race.
